Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship (QES) Program is now open for applications at the University of Ontario. The Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF) leads the Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship program, known as the QES, in conjunction with Universities in Canada, and with initial assistance from Community Foundations of Canada (CFC).
This grant will enable students who would not otherwise be able to participate in international experiences to do so. Through global cooperation, almost 3,000 extra students will be able to further their studies and research, as well as enhance their leadership and civic participation skills.
This money sets the foundation for the Rideau Hall Foundation’s new legacy effort to make the QES program permanent. The RHF will aim to expand on this very significant contribution with other public and private gifts to ensure that QES maintains a permanent legacy to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, supporting generations of scholars in Her name. The program offers a $6,000 grant for an exchange with a UOIT partner university in another Commonwealth country. This scholarship is one of the Top 10 Best Scholarships in Canada for all Students.
Level/Field of Study
This scholarship is designed for post-secondary students to leverage on and further their studies in any university in Canada. If you are eligible, this scholarship is for you.
Host Nationality
Universities Canada, the Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF), Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), and Canadian universities work together to operate the QES. The QES program’s goal is to provide graduate students with opportunities to get foreign experience as part of their studies at UOIT.

The QES program helps to develop young Canadians into global citizens by fostering international student exchange and civic involvement, as well as showcasing Canada as a destination for the world’s best talent and drawing top talent and worldwide research leaders to Canada.
Required Criteria for Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship (QES)
- be 35 years old or younger at the time of application
- You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to apply.
- Study or conduct research at the partner university full-time.
- Maintain good standing and fulfill any requirements imposed by the student’s faculty.
- Previous degrees are required for applicants.
- If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient English language skills to succeed in your studies.
Required Documents to Apply for Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship (QES)
Candidates that are interested must prepare and submit the necessary documentation:
Letter of intent from the candidate explaining the planned research exchange, including research aims, relevance to the thesis, and projected advantages. Please provide the name, institution, and country of the host researcher, as well as the estimated dates of travel and the name of the research project.
Letter of support from a UOIT faculty member, preferably but not necessarily from a supervisor, outlining the proposed research exchange, its relationship to the student’s academic program and research efforts, and any previous collaboration with the proposed host researcher in the Commonwealth country.
A letter of support from a host researcher/faculty member at the host institution verifying the host institution’s ability to accommodate the student for research during the projected trip dates.

Scholarship beneficiaries get up to $6000 from Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Committee.
Deadline for the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship
The scholarship application deadline is normally in January of that academic year.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship (QES) is a Canadian initiative that encourages international student exchange and civic involvement through project-based scholarships. To date, 106 projects have been supported in 46 Canadian colleges and in 72 countries across the world, and over 2,200 young people have graduated from the program.
