The applications for the 2022 Shell LiveWIRE Programme for Nigerian Youths are currently being accepted. The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited is one of the organizations that is supporting the LiveWIRE Nigeria youth enterprise development program (SPDC).

About the Programme

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), operator of the NNPC/Shell/Total/Agip Joint Venture (SPDC JV), has announced the beginning of the 2018 SPDC JV LiveWIRE Programme, which is aimed specifically at young people from the states that make up the Niger Delta.

Shell LiveWIRE helps tens of thousands of people each year gain access to the knowledge, skills, networks, and resources they need to turn their business ideas into successful enterprises that provide a sustainable income, create jobs, and drive innovation. These enterprises can then go on to support innovation.

The mission of LiveWIRE is to broaden the range of opportunities available to young people so that they can more fully realize their potential by starting and growing their own businesses. These types of businesses will contribute to a more robust economy as well as communities that contain younger people who are more satisfied with their lives.

Programme Benefits

  • For young people there is access to attractive, targeted, high quality, relevant programmes and opportunities to meet other young people with similar ambitions and challenges.
  • Talent discovery and Mentorship
  • Business training and access to funds
  • For the joint venture partners especially Shell, there are Public Relations, media and brand opportunities aimed at demonstrating commitment to local economic development. In addition because LiveWIRE works in the area of youth development and small business (which in nearly every country around the world are major political and social concerns), it can provide platforms to involve government to interact with youths/future leaders.
  • LiveWIRE can also provide good opportunities for Shell Employee Volunteering programmes
