About Job

Google’s infrastructure requirements are significantly more extensive than just server systems. The Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google’s future as its products and services expand around the world, including everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you’ll use your in-depth market knowledge of a certain area, as well as your tech industry expertise, to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google’s infrastructure expansion.

You’ll negotiate deals with specific project teams, manage vendor and partner relationships, and offer deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and have a significant influence across the company.

The infrastructure established by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running is behind everything our users see online.

We make Google’s product portfolio feasible by constructing and managing our data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms. We maintain our networks up and running to provide the finest and fastest experience for our users.

You will represent Google’s peering and interconnect efforts in the market, at various industry events, and in support of local business and policy teams as a Strategic Negotiator.

The infrastructure established by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running is behind everything our users see online. We make Google’s product portfolio feasible by constructing and managing our data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms.

We’re delighted to be our engineers’ engineers, and we like voiding warranties by dismantling and rebuilding items. We maintain our networks up and running to provide the finest and fastest experience for our users.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Science, Law, Policy, Economics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working with telecommunications service providers acquiring or selling connectivity related solutions
  • Experience selling or buying assets and solutions in emerging markets

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in negotiating complex agreements with ISP partners and/or Internet Exchanges
  • Experience in negotiating wholesale agreements between carriers (e.g., roaming, wholesale, etc.)
  • Proficient in internet concepts including routing (e.g., IGP/BGP), traffic management, interconnection, wholesale, and data center colocation services
  • Knowledge of stakeholders, issues, and market trends within Africa
  • Creative approach to solving unclear multi-stakeholder challenges
